What You'll Need

  • Yarn:
    LANA GROSSA Cool Wool Baby (100% merino, 220 m / 50 g)

    • Top: 100g (150g) 150g in white

    • Leggings: 50g (100g) 100g in white

  • Crochet hook: 3 mm

  • Needles: Circular needles 3 mm and 3.5 mm

  • Notions:

    • 2 buttons (Ø 9 mm)

    • 50–60 cm of 10 mm elastic

Pattern: Angel Baby Top

Bodice (Crocheted Lace Section)

  1. With 3 mm crochet hook, chain 126 (144) 162. Join to work in the round.

  2. Work lace pattern from chart for 6 rounds, then continue through rounds 9–10.

  3. You should have 98 (112) 126 sts.

  4. Finish with one round of shell edging: Ch 4, 3 tr, skip 2, sc, ch 3, 3 tr in same stitch, repeat. Fasten off.

Upper Bodice (Double Seed Stitch)

  1. With 3.5 mm needles, pick up 59 sts for back panel.

  2. Work in double seed stitch.

  3. At 7.5 (8.5) 9.5 cm from underarm, bind off middle 17 (20) 23 sts for neckline.

  4. Finish each shoulder by binding off 12 (14) 16 sts.

Repeat for front panel, shaping the neckline slightly deeper:

  • At 5 (6) 7 cm from underarm, bind off centre 11 (13) 15 sts.

  • Shape shoulder as for back.

Sleeves (Make 2)

  1. Cast on 31 (34) 37 sts with 3 mm needles.

  2. Work 2 (3) 4 cm in double seed stitch.

  3. Bind off shaping sleeve cap:

    • BO 3 sts each side

    • Then decrease 4, 2, 2, 1, 1… until 15 (16) 17 sts remain.

    • Bind off remaining stitches.

Drawstring

  1. Ch 2, then sc 1 into 1st chain.

  2. Continue crocheting into back loops to form a firm cord.

  3. Continue until cord measures 60 (65) 70 cm.

Pattern: Angel Baby Leggings

Legs (Make 2)

  1. Cast on 44 (48) 52 sts with 3 mm needles.

  2. Work 6 rows in seed stitch for cuff.

  3. Switch to 3.5 mm and work in stocking stitch until leg measures 7 (9) 11 cm.

  4. Place centre stitch marker.

Join Legs

  1. Transfer both legs onto one 3.5 mm circular needle = 104 (112) 120 sts.

  2. Begin crotch shaping using short rows.

  3. Continue until piece measures 19 (23) 27 cm from waistband.

  4. Bind off.

Waistband

  1. Work 10 rounds in seed stitch.

  2. BO loosely, fold down waistband, sew in place leaving an opening.

  3. Thread in elastic, sew ends together, close opening.

Finishing

  • Lightly block all pieces.

  • Sew shoulder seams.

  • Set in sleeves.

  • Crochet shell edging around neckline and slit.

  • Add button loops and sew on buttons.

  • Insert drawstring and elastic.
